4 Ways to Cure Post-Christmas Blues

Go back to all news

Christmas and New Year is over, the Christmas tree has come down and the days are cold and dark. So it’s no wonder that we’re all desperate for a pick-me-up between now and Easter. To help you cure those pesky post-Christmas blues, we’ve put together a list of fantastic activities and events you can get involved with throughout the next couple of months.

Mid-week afternoon tea

Throughout January, February and March, between Monday and Thursday we’ll be offering Afternoon Tea for two, for just £40. A truly British tradition in the breathtakingly stunning Warwickshire countryside, afternoon tea in Coombe Abbey is an opportunity not to be missed. Choose from a variety of delicious teas, and delight in our delectable pastries and sandwiches, all the while relaxing in our charming Garden Room Restaurant.

Blow away the cobwebs on a walk

Sometimes all you need is a refreshing walk on a crisp winter’s morning. Luckily for you, Coventry and Warwickshire plays host to a number of fantastically scenic walks, with one of the best being right on Coombe Abbey Hotel’s doorstep. With a play area for children, a duck’s pond and plenty of forest to explore, Coombe Country Park is the perfect place to breathe in fresh air and enjoy quality time with friends and family.

Take in Coventry’s history

If you’re visiting Coventry for the day, a great place to visit is the city’s cathedral. Built in 1300, but destroyed during the war, the ruins stand as a symbol of peace and reconciliation. Entry is just £2.50 for adults (children go free) and you get to walk all the way to the top of the 180 steps of the gothic spire. Right next to the ruins is the modern cathedral, which includes a futuristic organ and stained glass. It’s the perfect modern reflection of the original Coventry Cathedral.

Enjoy a Sunday Roast

In a Sunday slump? Treat yourself to our We Cook, You Carve, where you and your friends or family can enjoy your very own private carvery dinner. On top of your choice of meat, you’ll be able to tuck into Yorkshire puddings, seasonal vegetables, duck fat roast potatoes and beef gravy. Plus, to finish it off you can choose from two mouthwateringly good desserts – we feel better about January just thinking about it!

Ready to forget about your post-Christmas blues and welcome in the New Year with a smile? We hope these ideas have got you smiling at the thought, and raring to get out of the house and blow those festive cobwebs away. Here’s to 2018!
