Is there anything better than a New Year’s walk? After indulging in so much food and drink over the festive period, getting some fresh air together on a family walk is a great way to start the new year.

Whether you’re wildlife lovers, keen dog walkers or just looking for a fun day out as a family, here are our top walks to enjoy together in Coombe Abbey Park

Heron’s Way

This two mile walk meanders into our historic woodland, past our new Go Ape high ropes adventure and children’s climbing forest before looping around our bird hide and back along the perimeter of our 80-acre lake.

Our hidden adventure climbing forest is a challenging and exciting play area complete with cargo nets and climbing posts, perfect for children aged eight and over.

Along your walk, see what birds you can spot together around our lake. Coombe Abbey Park is home to Warwickshire’s largest heronry along with birds such as Kingfishers, Chaffinches and Nuthatches just to name a few.

Discover Capability Brown

If you’re looking for a slightly longer walk, this two-and-a-half mile route takes in the sites around our old deer park with grazing sheep and finishes near our children’s play area.

Landscaped by Capability Brown in the 18th century, our old deer park is where historically deer once grazed. Today it offers fantastic views over the park and abbey making it a popular route for keen photographers and also dog walkers.

Redwood Grove and The Spinney

At one-and-a-half miles, this is the shortest of our three walks. Take in the beauty of our landscaped formal gardens designed by Capability Brown before looping around our top pool.

You can also stop off at Go Ape for some fun together high in the treetops or test your strength in our axe throwing area. The walk finishes back at our Visitor Centre and Cafe in the Park, where you can pick up a hot drink and snacks.

Whichever walk you choose to enjoy with your family, we know you’ll have a fantastic day out together at Coombe Abbey.
