Going outside for a walk can greatly improve both your mental and physical wellbeing.

With greater numbers now working from home, going for a walk and being surrounded by nature helps you to unwind and detach from your day at the desk.

For routes in Coventry and Warwickshire that are safe and allow you to stay active, we’ve taken a look at three easy Coombe Abbey walks around our countryside park.

1.Redwood Grove and The Spinney trail

A short walk at just one-and-a-half miles, our Redwood Grove and The Spinney trail meanders through our landscaped formal gardens before looping around our stunning top pool. The formal gardens designed by Capability Brown will be coming out into full bloom now that spring is here, a sight that would be a shame to miss. Take some time to listen to the birds as you stroll around, and let their soothing calls unwind your stressed out body and mind.

2.Capability Brown trail

Say hello to the animals grazing in the old deer park on this slightly longer route, just shy of two-and-a-half miles. Also landscaped by Capability Brown in the 18th century, our old deer park is where deer once grazed when the hotel belonged to the Craven family. Today this walking route offers fantastic views over the park and historic abbey, and is a very peaceful spot. It’s also a great route to take the dogs and burn off some pent up energy.

3.Heron’s Way trail

Named after our resident heronry (the largest in Warwickshire), the Heron’s Way route is two miles and takes you through historic woodland, past our bird hide and back along the perimeter of our beautiful 80-acre lake. This route is popular with runners and bird watchers alike, with plenty of space to enjoy some peace and quiet, whilst soaking up the beautiful views. See if you can spot some of Coombe Abbey Park’s Kingfishers, Chaffinches or Nuthatches along the way.

Please be aware that Coombe Abbey Hotel is currently closed and we would recommend you enjoy your walk with those in your household or on your own to help stretch your legs and clear your mind.

Whichever Coombe Abbey walk you choose to experience, we hope it helps lift your mood and morale.
