With over 500 acres of countryside on our doorstep, there’s plenty of space to safely explore on a walk at Coombe Abbey Country Park.

If you live in Coventry or Warwickshire, you don’t need to travel outside of your local area to discover beautiful scenery. At Coombe Abbey Park we have several walking routes you can enjoy with your household or on your own, allowing you to be at one with nature and focus on your wellbeing.

1. A wildlife walk: The Heron’s Way trail

Named after our resident heronry (the largest in Warwickshire), the Heron’s Way route is two miles and takes you through historic woodland, past our bird hide and back along the perimeter of our stunning 80-acre lake.

This route is popular with walkers and bird watchers alike, with plenty of space to enjoy some peace and quiet, whilst soaking up the beautiful views. See if you can spot some of Coombe Abbey Park’s Kingfishers, Chaffinches or Nuthatches along the way.

2. A pretty stroll: The Redwood Grove and The Spinney trail

For a shorter walk, at just one-and-a-half miles our Redwood Grove and The Spinney trail meanders through our landscaped formal gardens designed by Capability Brown before looping around our stunning top pool.

With the winter sunshine warming your face, take some time to listen to the birds as you stroll around and let their soothing calls help you unwind.

3. A view to savour: The Capability Brown trail

This slightly longer route, just shy of two-and-a-half miles, will take you past our resident animals grazing in the old deer park. Also landscaped by Capability Brown in the 18th century, our old deer park is where deer once grazed when the hotel belonged to the Craven family.

Today this walking route offers fantastic views over the park and historic abbey, and is a very peaceful spot. It’s also a great route to take the dogs and burn off some pent up energy.

Coombe Abbey Country Park also provides access to long distance walking routes such as Centenary Way and the Sowe Valley footpath if you are looking to take in more of the Coventry and Warwickshire countryside on your walk.

Keep warm on your wellness walk

Our Cafe and Kiosk in the Park remains open with a streamlined menu for takeaway hot food and drink only. From loaded chips, jacket potatoes, toasties and hot batches, there’s plenty to tuck into on your walk. There’s also a range of hot drinks to takeaway along with a nourishing kids lunch box to keep little ones happy.

Whichever route you choose to experience on your wellness walk, we hope being in the great outdoors and close to nature will help soothe busy minds and banish any blues.
