What better treat than an ice cream? Fill a summer afternoon at Coombe Abbey Hotel and its sprawling grounds.
We’ve got 550 acres of stunning gardens, set in the heart of Warwickshire. You could spend days exploring it…
It’s the perfect choice for a picturesque walk and a sweet treat. We’ve rounded up five of our favourite places to enjoy a snack in the Coombe Abbey grounds. Not to mention our new Sundae Club, the most indulgent ice cream parlour in Coventry:

Kiosk in the Park

Loved by families and lone strollers alike, the Kiosk in the Park is a welcome spot if you’re feeling peckish. It’s just next to the Go Ape site – ideal for climbers who work up an appetite. The Kiosk sells hot and cold lunch, snacks and drinks beside a lake view. Enjoy a treat on a bench and keep an eye out for local wildlife.

The Gardens and Arboretum

Those with a spare afternoon should explore Coombe Abbey’s extraordinary formal gardens. Tranquil and unique, there’s everything from local woodland to exotic tropical trees. You’ll be in awe of the arboretum’s Redwood trees. Some are nearing 200 years old. Study the gardens’ Georgian influence or just curl up with a book and an ice cream. Time to relax!

Picnic areas

The bustling picnic areas are ideal for children and catch-ups with friends. It’s likely been a while. Together, you’ll enjoy eating al fresco, amidst the stunning landscape.

There are a few dedicated spots by the car park, not far from the Coombe Abbey Visitor Centre. Weary families will appreciate a snack after a memorable day out. Cool down with an iced coffee from the Abbey Artisan Market, and to accompany it, you can choose from a whole range of artisan chocolate, stocked from local suppliers.

The Herons Way walking trail

Around the Heronry is the aptly-named Herons Way. Two miles of Warwickshire woodland encircles a glassy lake. You’ll often spot runners and birdwatchers here and we can’t blame them. Year-round, you can find nuthatches, chaffinches, and even cross your fingers for a kingfisher. If you need to clear your head after a busy day, carve out an hour to amble around this beautiful path. Then, head to Coventry’s newest ice cream parlour…

Sundae Club

This tantalising dessert diner is one of Coombe Abbey’s newest offerings. Styled with traditional 1950s décor, it’ll bring a little light no matter the weather. As well as their jaw-dropping sundaes, the Sundae Club offers fresh waffles, milkshakes, hot crepes, and ice cream. Pile them high with your choice of treats. Caramel, Crunchies, or Oreo?

Those with a sweet tooth will be happy to hear that, we are launching a Sundae Club loyalty card, where you collect 5 stamps and get a free dessert on us.

The Sundae Club is open from 10am-4pm every day and is located in the Coombe Abbey Visitor Centre. Along with the nearby Artisan Market, it celebrates our local produce.

The Sundae Club will also be expanding, as we’re opening up another store in War Memorial Park, where you will be able to feast on all the ice cream and sweet treats you can think of.
