The old saying goes: never mix business with pleasure.

But here at Coombe Abbey Hotel, we are certainly seeing a trend of people combining business with leisure in a recently named phenomenon called bleisure – and who can blame them?

Coombe is one of the most popular venues in the region for hosting conferences, meetings, exhibitions, team-building days and corporate events. We boast 11 different meeting rooms all steeped in history and it means we can cater for just about any business need, whether it’s a handful of people or a roomful of hundreds.

Not only that, we’ve got the wonderful grounds and outdoor facilities – such as Go Ape – to allow event hosts to add outside, team-building activities to their agenda.

But there’s more to life than work and we’re seeing more and more people want to make the most of their time here. And, thanks to a unique offer for our business guests, they can upgrade, stay the extra night with us and enjoy a sumptuous breakfast in the morning all from just £130 per room. For an extra £35, they can upgrade to a Grand Feature Bedchamber.

Talk about the best of both worlds!

Instead of waking up and heading straight back to the grindstone, guests can eat their breakfast at leisure in the tranquil Garden Room Restaurant and then take in the local sights or 500 acres of parkland right on their doorstep at Coombe Abbey Country Park. In some cases, families and partners will join – taking an opportunity to holiday and enjoy some downtime.

We can also see a rise in holiday-goers who are choosing to stay in the UK due to the cost-of-living crisis and travel disruptions. So, now more than ever, it makes sense to look at tagging a leisure holiday onto a trip where you’ve had to travel for work.

We also understand that many want to cut carbon emissions, whether that be staying in one place for longer or cutting down on travel – bleisure presents the chance to travel and holiday more sustainably.

And that could be right here in the grounds of Coombe, taking in the 500 acres of parkland, maybe, stopping for a barista coffee at The Abbey Artisan Market and brunching at Café in the Park.  Or perhaps tagging on event tickets to one of the hotel’s well-loved mediaeval banquets or murder mysteries.

There’s so much to do in the local area too – from exploring the historic Coventry Cathedral quarter to taking in the newly opened St Mary’s Guildhall, where visitors can discover 700 years of power, propaganda and partying. Or enjoy famous afternoon tea in the venues Tales of Tea Restaurant.

And, in the nearby Herbert Art Gallery and Museum, they can catch a glimpse of Dippy the Dinosaur, which is currently on loan from the National History Museum for the next three years.

Last but not least, it could be a jaunt to the south of Warwickshire and could include visits to Warwick Castle or a day out in Stratford to soak up everything Shakespeare.

The real question is, why wouldn’t you mix business with pleasure when there is so much on offer?
