Whether you’re looking forward to a Christmas engagement this year, or you’ve already set a date for your big day, Warwickshire is the ideal setting for a wedding. But what about the planning?

To help keep you organised and calm throughout the months leading up to your nuptials, we’ve put together a handy list of everything you’ll need to help plan your dream wedding. From local suppliers you’ll adore, to picking the perfect venue for you – we’re here to help. So grab a pen and a notepad, and let’s start planning your dream 2017 Warwickshire wedding today!

The venue

Picking your wedding’s venue is one of the biggest decisions you’ll face – well, other than the bride’s dress that is. To start with, you’ll need to decide on the type of wedding you’d like. Will there be a lot of guests? Do you want a glamorous wedding, or maybe a slightly more rustic feel? These are just a couple of the big questions you’ll need to ask yourself. Fortunately, we have a number of venues that can cater to all types, from intimate occasions to big celebrations, and from weddings with mediaeval charm in The Abbeygate, and outdoor weddings in our Marquee.

Church or civil ceremony?

Nowadays, people are spoilt for choice when it comes down to the actual ceremony. Depending on whether or not religion will play a big part on your wedding day, will affect the final decision on what kind of ceremony you’ll have. Those of you who would prefer a civil ceremony can easily book it with our wedding’s team. Hosted in a variety of rooms, from The Courthouse to The Cloisters, you can say your vows in a beautiful setting of your choice. Alternatively, if you wish to have the main ceremony in your place of worship, we can ensure the venue of choice is ready and waiting for your arrival.

Finding the dress

We don’t care what anybody says, finding the bride’s dress is the most important part of a lady’s wedding day. To help you find the one, we’ve listed a handful of dress shops in the Coventry, Warwickshire and surrounding area that we think are brilliant:

  • Based in Northamptonshire, in the charming village of Weedon, the Serendipity bridal shop offers a range of dresses for a variety of budgets.
  • Located in Henley-in-Arden, Warwickshire, The Bridal Boutique is conveniently located and provides a vast selection of exquisite dresses.
  • For something a little closer to Coombe Abbey, pay a visit to Quello, a luxury bridal shop in the heart of Kenilworth.

Suited and booted

For the groom and groomsman, finding the perfect suit that reflects the style and personality of the main man can be tricky. Fortunately, Coventry and Warwickshire is home to plenty of tailors where both the purchasing and hiring of suits is available. In Leamington there is The Wedding Barn, which houses everything a groom could ever want or need, and in Coventry the groomsman can pay a visit to Mark Andrew Formal Hire, which is ideal for affordable suit rental.

So, what’s next? How about bringing your special day to life with blossoming bouquets and tablet arrangements with flowers that wow. Luckily for you, Warwickshire is also home to Britain in Bloom Gold winner, Rugby, so we know a thing or two about flowers. For somewhere close to Coombe Abbey, why not contact our on-site florist Flowers at Coombe.. Alternatively, NuLeaf has a fantastic reputation, and a gorgeous range of floral displays. Catering Organising the catering for your big day is also another vital element of your wedding plan. There’s a lot to think about, from how many people will be invited to your wedding guest, to how many people will expect something to eat in the evening. Here at Coombe Abbey, we will  happily cater your wedding to all of your requirements – even for picky Aunty Jane who won’t eat gluten, chicken or dairy.

Feeling a little more prepared for your wedding? We hope our expert tips have got you inspired for your special day, from choosing the right wedding venue in Coventry and Warwickshire for you, to deciding on what flowers you’ll have and from which florist! Good luck, and congratulations – we wish you both a world of happiness.
