Remembering VE Day: 80 Years On

Honouring history with the D Day Darlings at Coombe Abbey

On 8th May 1945, Victory in Europe Day—known to most as VE Day—marked the end of World War II in Europe. After nearly six years of conflict, crowds gathered in towns, villages and cities across the UK to celebrate peace, remember lost loved ones, and look forward to a brighter future. It was a moment of national relief, unity, and hope.

This year marks 80 years since that momentous day, and we’re proud to honour the anniversary here at Coombe Abbey Hotel, in the heart of Warwickshire.

A Musical Tribute to the Era

To mark the occasion, we’re delighted to welcome the D Day Darlings back to Coombe Abbey for a very special afternoon performance on Friday 10th May. Known from Britain’s Got Talent and beloved across the UK, this wartime-inspired vocal group bring the spirit of the 1940s to life through their nostalgic harmonies, vintage style, and heartfelt performances.
