Live music and entertainment with JD
No Christmas at Coombe Abbey would be complete without an electric evening of entertainment and live music from JD at Free Radio. We spoke to our Christmas party host about his role at Free Radio, his thoughts on this year’s festive celebration, and what to expect this year. Here’s what he had to say:
What is your job like at Free Radio?
I’ve been breakfast host for Free Radio for 15 years and I’m on air 6 – 10am every weekday waking up Coventry & Warwickshire. We play all the biggest hits and throwbacks as well as have a good laugh and amazing giveaways in the morning.
How did you spend your Christmas during lockdown last year when you weren’t able to party at Coombe Abbey?
I organised a virtual silent disco and partied with friends and family over zoom. Whilst it was fun, it just wasn’t the same as spending Christmas at Coombe Abbey.
How are you involved in the Coombe Christmas Party Nights this year?
I’ll be back playing host, getting people up on stage, and giving away a series of prizes, the biggest prize being £1,000 in Coombe Abbey vouchers!
I’ll also be playing some absolute tunes at the disco until 12am which will be great fun. My silent disco channel will have some great tracks which will run from 12:00am to 1:00am on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and 12:00am to 2:00am on Fridays and Saturdays.
What can people expect at the event this year?
I’m working with the team at Coombe Abbey to make it the biggest and best ever. I’ve been hosting the party nights for 7 years and because we had to miss last year, we’re going all out to make up for it this year!
How would you describe the Christmas Party Nights in three words?
Fun, unpredictable, and memorable.

Dinner will commence at 7:45pm with entrée options of roasted onion chutney and farmhouse cheddar tartlet or a rocket and cress salad dressed with a balsamic vinegar glaze.
For the main event, get a taste of Christmas with a serving of shallot and sage Worcester turkey parcel, with crispy fondant potato, shredded sprouts and bacon with heritage chantenay carrots, all drizzled in a delicious turkey jus.
Saving the best until last, indulge in a delectable salted caramel and praline chocolate brownie and finish the meal off with a traditional mini mince pie and a hot cup of coffee.
