Plays performed outside can be traced as far back as the 14th century and by the late 16th and 17th centuries, especially due to the popularity of the Globe outdoor theatre in London and its most famous resident playwright William Shakespeare, outdoor plays were all the rage. At Coombe Abbey Hotel, with our rich history and connections to the Elizabethan era of Shakespeare, we’re proud to support the tradition of outdoor theatre and bring a whole range of outdoor theatre shows to our visitors.
