Now that we can officially meet with up to six others outdoors, you’re probably wondering what there is to do outside with your friends and family.
To inspire your plans, we’ve put together a list of our top five activities you can enjoy outdoors to make the most of Spring and truly embrace al fresco life.
1. Plan a perfect picnic
With the weather warming up, it’s a great time to find a space in a local park, tell your friends to bring snacks and drinks, and enjoy a relaxed afternoon in the sunshine.
You could even order a takeaway or collect a meal from your favourite restaurant with many currently offering options to-go. Whatever you choose, a picnic is a great way to soak up some sunshine and get some fresh air.
2. Experience al fresco Afternoon Tea
If you’ve been wanting to experience dining at Coombe Abbey, the wait is almost over.
As of April 14th, our Afternoon Tea will be available to enjoy al fresco on the West Terrace and outside bar area in two separate sittings – 12.30pm and 3pm. Tuck into our delicious finger sandwiches before indulging in our selection of cake and freshly baked scones, served with strawberry jam and clotted cream.
3. Try something new
There’s no better time to mix things up and take part in an activity you haven’t tried before.
You could opt for a game of croquet or bowls which are both excellent ways to have some light-hearted fun with friends and family outdoors. You never know, you might just discover a love for one of the traditionally British pass-times.
For an activity with a difference, why not try your hand at some outdoor axe throwing at Go Ape Coventry, set in 500-acres of beautiful parkland here at Coombe Abbey. Test your nerve with ziplining, tree top challenges and the Plummet, a thrilling 12-metre vertical drop.
4. Organise some outdoor exercise
Whether it’s yoga or bootcamp style circuit training, orgainising a group work-out session with your friends is a great way to get fit and have fun.
Just pick a place and time and tell your friends to bring their own equipment. You could meet regularly at the same spot or choose a different location each time to explore new outdoor spaces in your area.
5. Movie night, anyone?
While cinemas remain closed, why not arrange a movie evening?
With just a sheet, a projector, and a bowl of popcorn, you can create your own “drive-in theatre” experience. This is a great way to enjoy alfresco life – just make sure you have plenty of blankets for when the sun goes down!
What’s more, we are thrilled to be bringing back our outdoor cinema this July with a fabulous line up of classic films. Head to our website to book your tickets in advance.
We hope this has provided you some al fresco inspiration and new ideas for what to do with your friends and family outside.
