We’re no ordinary hotel, so when the perfect Summer day arises, what’s the best way to spend it? Allow us to guide you through what to do here at Coombe Abbey so you can make the most of the sunshine all day long.

Early Morning Walks

Fishing at Coombe Abbey, Coventry

Start the day off right by waking up in one of our bedchamber Lake View rooms, to be greeted with a breath-taking view of the idyllic formal gardens. This view can be enjoyed through the large feature window whilst indulging in a freshly cooked Coombe Abbey breakfast. Head down to the Garden Room Restaurant where the choices for breakfast are endless.

Deciding what to do at Coombe Abbey can be difficult as there is so much to choose from. The most impressive feature of our hotel is definitely the 500 acres of woodland and historical grounds. There are countless walking trails and parks waiting to be discovered which include the historical Woodland, Lakeside Walks and the Old Deer Park. Take a trip down to our mature estate lake where a spot of fishing can be done, or just to watch the surrounding wildlife.

Lunchtime Picnic and Adrenaline

Go ape coombe abbey

With the grounds being so beautiful, a picnic in Coombe Abbey park would be delicious. Take a blanket to sit within the gardens or perch on one of the many picnic benches located around the park. If the sun is too much, then dining in our park café is ideal. Whether it’s for a little bite or a full meal, the café offers something for us all to enjoy before heading off to the next adventure.

Here at Coombe Abbey, we like to make the most of Summer, so if that involves being adventurous then our next stop is Go Ape. When we think of what to do at Coombe Abbey, Go Ape wouldn’t be at the top of the list. However, we love the adrenaline activities such as the Plummet, which is a 12-metre drop from the high-ropes course. Take part in some axe-throwing, run the course and take a ride on the Alpine tree zip-to-zip.

Late Afternoon Tea Delight

By now we’ve worked up an appetite. Nothing can satisfy hunger more than our delicious Afternoon Tea. Given that we’ve been voted one of the top 30 places to enjoy afternoon tea in the UK, it’s only fair we indulge in this. Abbot’s Traditional Afternoon Tea offers a selection of finger sandwiches and delightful cakes, as well as a lovely cup of tea or coffee.

Summer Evening Dining

After a long day of exploring and axe-throwing, it will be time to eat once again. With a choice of private dining or an A La Carte evening meal served in our elegant Garden Room Restaurant, our chef’s selection of succulent meats will win over the taste buds.

Summer evenings are best spent outdoors watching the sunset. This can be done at our outdoor cinema where we show a wide variety of screenings all summer long. So, sit back and relax with us, grab a glass of wine from the on-site bar, some popcorn, and watch a film under the stars.

The Perfect Summer Day at Coombe Abbey

As the Summer day draws to a close, packed with both fun and relaxing activities, it’s time to retreat back to the hotel room and recuperate for tomorrow.
